i wybitnego przedsiębiorcy.
Główny bohater filmu na trwałe zapisał się w historii świata tworząc jedną z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych, ekskluzywnych i pożądanych marek zegarków na świecie, tj. Patek Philippe. Antoni Patek był twórcą zegarków, które nie tylko odmierzały czas, ale były na wskroś wyjątkowymi dziełami sztuki! Nie bez powodu nazywa się go zegarmistrzem królów. Jego wyroby nosiła m.in. królowa brytyjska Wiktoria Hanowerska, duńska królowa Luiza, król Wiktor Emanuel III czy car Mikołaj II.
Patek przez całe życie na obczyźnie niezwykle aktywnie wspierał tych, którzy trafili tam, chroniąc się przed prześladowaniami zaborców. Samo nazwisko Antoniego Patka aktywnie kształtowało obraz nieistniejącej Polski w Europie i na świecie. Zdobił on czasomierze wyprodukowane w swojej manufakturze motywami patriotycznymi i religijnymi, tj. podobiznami polskich bohaterów narodowych, scenami batalistycznymi nawiązującymi do największych polskich wiktorii, herbami polskich rodów czy wizerunkami Matki Boskiej. Wraz z innymi wielkimi postaciami polistopadowej emigracji kultywował on polską kulturę próbując stworzyć fundamenty odbudowy polskiej państwowości.
Chyba najlepiej Antoniego Patka opisują jego własne słowa: „Nie tylko bohaterskie czyny dają blask krajowi, ale i codzienna, solidna, dobra praca”. W jego życiu nie brakowało zaś ani bohaterskich czynów, ani solidnej pracy.
Mimo że wszystko, co robił, czynił z myślą o utraconej Ojczyźnie, przez wiele ostatnich lat był w niej mocno niedoceniany. Nieomal zapomniany. Niniejszy film ma za zadanie przywrócić Antoniemu Patkowi należne mu miejsce w panteonie wielkich Polaków.
Działania Patka mające na celu propagowanie kultury polskiej, jego działalność patriotyczna i społeczna, a przede wszystkim wkład zainicjowanej przez niego spółki w rozwój światowego zegarmistrzostwa jest doskonałym materiałem na film traktujący nie tylko o wyjątkowym człowieku, ale również o niezwykłych i trudnych dla naszego kraju czasach, kiedy to Polska była wymazana z mapy Europy.

Le film est un documentaire-fiction qui raconte la vie et les activités de Antoni Patek – un insurgé de novembre établi en Suisse, un militant de la Grande Émigration et un entrepreneur éminent.
Le protagoniste du film s’est inscrit de manière perpétuel dans l’histoire en créant l’une des marques de montres les plus reconnaissables, exclusives et recherchées au monde, à savoir Patek Philippe. Antoni Patek était le créateur de montres qui, loin de simplement mesurer le temps, étaient des œuvres d’art uniques en leur genre ! Ce n’est pas sans raison qu’on l’appelle l’horloger des rois. Ses produits étaient portées par des personnalités telles que la reine Victoria du Royaume-Uni, la reine Louise de Danemark, le roi Victor-Emmanuel III ou encore le tsar Nicolas II.
Pendant toute sa vie à l’étranger, Patek a activement soutenu ceux qui s’y trouvaient, eux protégeant ainsi des persécutions des occupants. Le nom seul d’Antoni Patek a largement contribué à façonner l’image d’une Pologne inexistante en Europe et dans le monde. Il a orné les horloges produites dans sa manufacture de motifs patriotiques et religieux, tels que des portraits de héros nationaux polonais, des scènes de bataille rappelant les plus grandes victoires polonaises, des armoiries de familles polonaises ou des images de la Vierge Marie. Avec d’autres grandes figures de l’émigration polonaise après l’Insurrection de novembre, il a préservé la culture polonaise en essayant de poser les bases de la reconstruction de l’État polonais.
Les propres mots d’Antoni Patek semblent le décrire le mieux : „Ce ne sont pas seulement des actes héroïques qui donnent de la grandeur à une patrie, mais aussi un travail quotidien, solide et bon”. Sa vie n’a pas manqué d’actes héroïques ni de travail solide.
Bien que tout ce qu’il ait fait ait été fait dans le but de sa patrie perdue, au cours des dernières années, il étaient grandement sous-estimé, presque oublié. Ce film vise à redonner à Antoni Patek la place qui lui revient dans le panthéon des grands Polonais.
Les activités de Patek visant à promouvoir la culture polonaise, son engagement patriotique et social, et surtout la contribution de la société qu’il a initiée au développement de l’horlogerie mondiale constituent un excellent matériel pour un film qui ne parle pas seulement d’un homme exceptionnel, mais aussi d’un temps extraordinaire et difficile pour notre pays, lorsque la Pologne était effacée de la carte de l’Europe.
Tout comme les précédents images de Krzysztof Paluszyński, ce film sera richement illustré de scènes de documentaire-fiction qui reconstituent les moments les plus importants de la vie d’Antoni Patek, ainsi que des discours d’historiens et de spécialistes. Le tout sera complété par une documentation d’archives pratiquement inconnue concernant le héros du film.
The film is a fictionalized documentary depicting the life and activities of Antoni Patek – a November Uprising insurgent settled in Switzerland, a figure of the Great Emigration, and a prominent entrepreneur.
The main character of the film has permanently inscribed himself in world history by creating one of the most recognizable, exclusive, and desired watch brands in the world, namely Patek Philippe. Antoni Patek was the creator of watches that not only measured time but were also great works of art! It is no wonder he is called the watchmaker of kings. His products were worn by, among others, Queen Victoria of Great Britain, Queen Louise of Denmark, King Victor Emmanuel III and Tsar Nicholas II.
Throughout his life in exile, Patek actively supported those who found themselves there, seeking refuge from the persecutions of oppressors. The name Antoni Patek actively shaped the image of non-existent Poland in Europe and worldwide. He adorned timepieces produced in his manufacture with patriotic and religious motifs, such as portraits of Polish national heroes, battle scenes reminiscent of the greatest Polish victories, coats of arms of Polish noble families, or images of the Virgin Mary. Along with other great figures of the post-November Uprising emigration, he cultivated Polish culture, trying to lay the foundations for the rebuilding of Polish state.
Perhaps, Antoni Patek is best described by his own words: „It is not only heroic acts that give glory to the country, but also everyday, solid, good work.” His life was not lacking in heroic acts or solid work.
Although everything he did was done with the thought of the lost Fatherland, for many recent years, he was severely underrated there. Almost forgotten. This film aims to restore Antoni Patek to his rightful place in the pantheon of great Poles.
Patek’s actions aimed at promoting Polish culture, his patriotic and social activities, and above all, the contribution of the company he initiated to the development of world watchmaking, provide excellent material for a film that deals not only with an exceptional individual but also with extraordinary and difficult times for our country, when Poland was being erased from the map of Europe.
Similar to earlier works by Krzysztof Paluszyński, the film will be richly illustrated with dramatized scenes depicting the most important moments of Antoni Patek’s life, as well as statements from historians and specialists. The whole will be complemented by virtually unknown archival documentation related to the film’s hero.
